Formerly "The JH Uth Guy", THE MIDDLE YEARS MINISTRY is a Site Dedicated to Providing Resources, Ideas, and Help to Pastors, Leader, Directors, Teachers, Mentors and Anyone Else Working in
the
Pivotal and Important 5th-9th Grade Years. The "Middle Years" are not children's ministry, not high school ministry, and are more than just Middle School. It is a unique and specialized ministry.

Matt Sprinkle is serves as Middle School Minister at Alice Drive Baptist Church in Sumter, SC. He has a passion for working with middle schoolers with the purpose of helping them to establish their identity in Christ. Matt believes that the middle school years are some of the most formative years, as it will set them up for deeper growth in high school. He recently created the group MSM: Network on Facebook in order to create a resource point for Middle School ministers that are in the trenches with him. Kevin Libick is a student pastor with over 15 years of ministry experience. Most of that time has been dedicated to middle school ministry. Currently, he is the Student Ministry Pastor at Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth, TX. He’s the husband of Kara and father of Knox. In his off time he loves watching his Texas Rangers and making his own bacon.

Mike Sheley is the Middle School Pastor at Mount Pleasant Christian Church in Greenwood, Indiana, where he has been working with 5th-8th graders since 2007. He believes many people have no idea how much his wife and own kids have influenced his ministry and changed his life. And although most people don’t understand why he chooses to minister with this age group, he loves the challenges and opportunities that come his way.
Caroline Smallwood is the Middle School Girls’ Director at Christ Chapel Bible Church in Fort Worth, Texas. At a young age she knew she was called to work with middle year girls and has been doing so in a full-time role for four years. She has her Masters in Human Relations and has a passion for helping hurting kids.


Mel Walker has been actively involved in youth ministry for more than 40 years. He is the co-founder and president of Vision For Youth. A former youth pastor, youth editor and college professor, Mel is the author of 7 books. Most recently Inter-Generational Youth Ministry: Why a Balanced View of Connecting the Generations is Essential for The Church. 





Scott Pittman is a Middle School Pastor veteran with over 20 years of experience. He is currently serving as the Middle School Pastor at Shadow Mountain Community Church in San Diego County. Scott has a Masters in Pastoral Care from Bethel Seminary San Diego. He has a passion to help families and students through the challenges that arise during the middle school years. Scott enjoys networking with other youth workers and helping churches develop a healthy and consistent youth ministry that fits the culture of their church.



Kellen Roggenbuck has been working in youth ministry for over a decade, serving several churches in 3 denominations over 2 states. Kellen has worked with middle school youth, high school youth, college-aged adults, and even lead a seniors ukulele ministry. Pastor Kellen currently serves the congregation of Immanuel UMC in Jefferson, WI where he lives with his awesome family.

Todd Jones has been in youth ministry for over a decade and has a passion for reaching lost students and training youth workers to do the same. Frank Newburn is a husband, father of 3, and youth director for Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington, IL. His ministry focuses include mentoring and discipleship, student leadership, and missions and has over 28 years of youth ministry experience. He holds degrees in Psychology, Christian Education, Biblical and Theological Studies, and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, all from Wheaton College. Frank enjoys movies, cooking, working out, and spending time with his wife and kids.

Matt Maiberger has been involved in equipping teams in leadership, team-building, and communication for over twenty years in the non-profit and education sector. He is privileged to have spoken to over 100,000 students, educators, and leaders as well as worked with renowned institutions such as Monster Worldwide Inc., Axis Ministries, and Michigan State University as well as other great organizations, schools, universities, ministries and churches. Most importantly, married for more than 20 years, he and his wife, Amy, have three children and reside in Northern Colorado, where he serves as Executive Pastor at Life Church of Fort Collins.

Chris Hargrove is Middle School Pastor at Lakewood Baptist Church in Gainesville, Ga. He loves working with middle schoolers and is passionate about seeing them take their next step towards Jesus. He is married to Carrie and they have a one year old daughter. His favorite shows are The Office and Parks and Rec. 


Jonny Radcliff the Student Ministry Director at Storehouse Church, the Delaware Valley Area Coordinator at National Network of Youth Ministries, and a co-host of the J3 Youth Ministry Podcast. He lives near Philly with his wife and the three little monsters that they rear. His near ten years of youth ministry have been spent in Indiana and Pennsylvania. Craig Maart is a husband of 22 years, father of 2 (college freshman and high school sophomore) and is the middle school pastor at Hershey Free Church. He has been in student ministry for 24 years serving in churches in Florida, Minnesota and Pennsylvania. He loves developing leaders to multiply the disciple making effort of the church. He has a Master of Arts in Christian Ministry and is a proud Vikings fan.


Jeff Beckley serves as the Youth & Family Pastor in Columbus, Ohio. Jeff has been serving in youth ministry for over a decade. He and his wife, Shannon, have 4 children. Jeff enjoys writing, and over the years has written youth curriculum and Christian magazine articles. Melissa Istvanik, has been married to her husband, Dan for 16 years. They have served in youth ministry together for 18 years around the country serving a wide range of students, from military kids to farm kids. Their most recent move has been to Victory Church in Lancaster County, Pa. She is currently serving beside her husband in the 5th-8th grade student ministry that they lead by co-teaching, counseling students and moms, leading a small group, and more.
God has additionally worked in our heart and called her to help and mentor other youth pastors' wives through her leadership with Leading and Loving It and as a ministry council for National Network of Youth Ministry.
