Game: "Kooky Kickball" (Big Group Game)

A YOUTH MINISTRY SCHOOLYARD CLASSIC REBORN WITH A CRAZY TWIST!

A FAVORITE AROUND OUR MINISTRY!

Supplies:
- A variety of different kind of balls, of all shapes and sizes (*Suggestions: wiffle ball, tennis ball, ping pong ball, soft football, beach ball, plastic hockey puck, rubber high-bounce ball …)
- 1 normal kick-ball or kick-ball sized ball
- 4 baseball base (or cones to mark bases)
- A large solid container or bag. (something player will not be able to see what is inside)

Game Play:

Quick explanation: A kooky game of the classic game of kickball but players at bat will not know what type of ball is being pitched to them until the last minute, but must still try to kick it into play.

Before the Game:
- Place all the balls into the containers
- Set up baseball bases in a traditional baseball diamond/ kickball game style.

Playing:
- Divide the group into 2 equal teams
- Give the quick explanation and the rules
- Assign one team to be “at bat” and one team to “field”.
- Batting team lines up single file to the side, with one player stepping forward to be at bat.
- Leader/Adult is the pitcher. Each “At Bat” the pitcher will reach into the container of balls and secretly select what ball will be pitched.
- The batter will then do their best to kick whatever is pitched at them, and then proceed to run the bases.
- The game continues like normal kickball

Rules:
· Similar rules to a normal playground game of kickball or feel free use your own “house rules”, with normal 3 outs, fielding and so forth.
· Winning team is the team that scores the most runs.
